NBC
The National Broadcasting Company (NBC) is an American television network headquartered
in the GE Building in New
York City's Rockefeller Center.
It is sometimes referred to as the Peacock Network due to its stylized peacock logo. The network is now a part of the media
company NBC Universal, a unit of General Electric (GE) and Vivendi, and supplies programming to more than 200 affiliated U.S. stations.
Formed in 1926 by RCA, control of NBC passed to GE in 1986 following GE's $6.4
billion purchase of RCA. Since this acquisition, the chief executive of NBC (now NBC Universal) was Bob Wright, until he retired,
giving his job to Jeff Zucker.

Comedy Central
Comedy Central is an American cable television and satellite television channel
in the United States. As its name implies, the channel carries predominantly comedy programming,
both original and syndicated. Since late 2006, local versions of Comedy Central (which do not have identical schedules to
their U.S. counterpart) have launched in European markets such as Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy.

VH1
VH1 (VH-1: Video Hits One until 1994) is an American cable television channel
that was created in January 1985 by Warner-Amex Satellite Entertainment, at the time a division of Warner Communications and
owners of MTV. VH1 and sister channel MTV are currently part of the MTV Networks division of Viacom.
With then four-year-old MTV's popularity rising drastically among teens, VH1
began capitalizing on the success of the music video. However, VH1's aim was to focus on the lighter, softer side of popular
music, including such musicians as Tina Turner, Elton John, Sting, Diana Ross, Kenny G, and Anita Baker, in hopes of appealing
to people aged 18 to 35, and possibly older. However, they occasionally show specials about hard rock and heavy metal, the
most notable being the VH1 Rock Honors, which began in 2006.
It has also historically played more adult R&B than its sister channel,
and has rarely played any rap or hip-hop videos. Also frequently featured in the network's early years were "videos" for Motown
and other 1960s oldies consisting of newsreel and concert footage.
While VH1 still occasionally plays videos and has "video countdown shows",
its more recent claim to fame has been much like that of MTV's, in the area of music-related reality programming, such as
the signature show Behind the Music, and its focus on pop culture.

USA
USA Network is a popular American cable television network with about 89 million
household subscribers as of 2005. The network shows a variety of original and second-run programming, from syndicated TV series
to edited movies. USA also shows some
sports coverage, such as select golf tournaments, the U.S. Open (tennis), and annual Westminster Kennel Club dog show. Since
2004, they have broadcast portions of the Olympic Games, along with many other NBC Universal basic cable channels. Previously,
it had a weekly boxing show named USA Tuesday Night Fights, which ran for 17 years. USA was also the home of World Wrestling Entertainment (then called the World Wrestling
Federation or WWF)'s flagship cable TV shows from the channel's launch until September 2000, and currently since October 2005.
Once a minor player in basic cable, the network has steadily been gaining popularity
recently, thanks in part to breakout hits like the detective series Monk, Psych (a series about a fake psychic who helps solves
crimes), the return of WWE Raw, the sci-fi mini-series turned regular series The 4400, and the psychic series based on the
novel by Stephen King, The Dead Zone. Reruns of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent
are also frequently shown and are popular on the network, as is another NBC Universal property, House.
